nov quote eZine

Welcome to your November eZine.

This is an opportune month to take a look at values and what we hold dear, both for ourselves and our organization. Values determine how we act toward and react to others. Often we don’t take the time to self-reflect on what really drives our behavior or take the time to consider what drives others we work and live with.

This eZine will give you many opportunities to do just that. Our article is written on ethics by Rowena Crosbie. It not only will provide some alarming statistics on the breach of ethics found in organizations, but will give you tips to safeguard ethics. To be ethical is a true demonstration of living our values.  We also present Rowena Crosbie’s Insight video which gives a solid, brief explanation of how we see the world through our value lens.

Two of the Tero Tips Videos highlight how to align your values and behavior, as well as how to challenge your assumptions. You probably never realized McDonald’s sells shrimp nuggets and curried vegetables in other parts of the world. They realized when they challenged their assumptions, the Big Mac didn’t go over well everywhere. In our last video, we happily pulled out the “ Your Invisible Toolbox Show” archives. We filmed it while on retreat at the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks. Along with a fun summer background as we inch toward winter, it will discuss the important topic of how we challenge our beliefs.

Instead of a quiz, we offer an activity for you to identify your values. This is an important exercise for all of us to occasionally revisit  and remind ourselves of what matters to us and how that determines how we operate in our interactions and relationships.

In this month of thankfulness, we want to express our thankfulness for each of you. Together we are a community  exploring how to be better, whether in our professional or personal lives, even in these ambiguous and challenging times.

This year more than ever, we appreciate and are thankful for those people in our lives we value and love. If  you cannot be surrounded by those you love for the holiday due to Covid,  may they be with you in the poignant spirit of pausing to give thanks.

Presumption of innocence is a fundamental right in most civilized countries. In criminal trials, the burden of proof rests on the prosecution which is required to meet a threshold of reasonable doubt in the presentation of evidence.

Letting Go of Established Practices by Tero VP and Chief Learning Officer Deborah Rinner

Holding onto the way things have always been done can prevent you from seeing new opportunities and growth. In March 2020, the pandemic forced my employer to face a business dilemma that would affect the learning function, our clients, and our bottom line.

Leadership Activities: Clarify Your Values

In lieu of a quiz this month we offer you a link to help you clarity your top values. These are the things you will look for in others as well as react to when you don’t feel you see others honoring the values you hold. After determining your values ask yourself” Do these show up in my expectation of others? How can I challenge myself to open myself up to others who might hold differing values?
